the UK era of British history,
and were circulated under all
monarchs, except Edward VIII.
The first circulation issue
United Kingdom era British
penny was minted in 1806,
and the last in 1967.
The UK penny obverse features the monarch of the
time, encircled by a legend describing their titles.
The reverse shows Britannia seated facing left during
George III's reign, then right from George IV onward.
Silver 'Maundy' one penny coins are
covered separately.
1 penny = 1/12 of a shilling
= 1/240 of a pound

George III's era prior to the formation
of the UK in 1801, as his reign was
both prior and post.
