abdicated in 1936.
The first King George VI
New Zealand half crown
was minted in 1937, and
the last in 1951.
The King George VI era New Zealand half crown obverse
features the bare head of George VI, facing left.
The reverse shows the NZ Shield of Arms embellished
with Maori designs, with the Royal Crown above.
'NEW ZEALAND HALF CROWN' surrounds
the main design, with the date below.
Note: The 1940 'Treaty of Waitangi' commemorative reverse differs.
